UNDERGROUND GROUTING
Saracen - Deep South Gold Mine – Western Australia
While raise drilling the 4.5m diameter primary vent shaft at the Deep South Gold Mine, a water bearing structure was intersected approximately 30m below the surface. This structure was producing between 20-30ltr/sec. This volume of unexpected water ingress meant that installing the primary vent fans which were planned to be installed on the surface would not have been possible. Sovereign Hydroseal were called in and with a series of only 9 holes drilled and approximately 4 days of grouting the water was successfully reduced to just a few litres.
